Not too far back, we took a look at Steve Jobs’s favorite mindfulness exercises. It was so fascinating that we wanted to explore more industry influencers and their wellness beliefs — so today we’ll be delving into Arianna Huffington’s mindful tips for workplace success!

#1 SLEEP IS THE KEY TO A RESTFUL MIND

Huffington is a strong believer in getting at least eight hours of sleep every night. This habit, in the long term, keeps her body rested. As a result, her mind is sharper and she’s more ready to start her day. Sleep also plays a key role in terms of what we do once we wake up. She suggests taking a moment to breathe deeply, be grateful and set intentions for her day. In contrast to the overwhelmed feeling we get when we immediately check our phones or rush off to work, we’ll feel re-focused. This equilibrium sets the tone, and clarity, for the rest of your day.

#2 INJECT YOUR DAY WITH SMALL BURSTS OF EXERCISE

Hitting the gym shouldn’t be an hour-long ordeal that you wake up dreading. On the contrary, exercise is a mindful respite from everyday life. Huffington starts her morning with 20-30 minutes of meditation. Her typical workout routine involves 30 minutes on a stationary bike and sometimes 10-minute yoga stretches. Exercise presents an opportunity for your mind to reset while your body takes over. Workouts like yoga, stretching and meditation have the added benefit of engaging your mind, helping you see the world with a fresh perspective.

#3 ESTABLISH A ROUTINE (AND STICK TO IT)

Routines are the comfort and rhythm of our lives. Huffington has her own morning routine, but you can choose an evening routine, a pre-work routine or whatever suits you best! Routines help boost productivity because they’re efficient ways of helping you meet your needs. Individuals with routines tend to be more focused, punctual and aware first thing in the morning. This is essential once you step into the office and start tackling your work for the day!

EASY DOES IT!

We tend to have this misconception that successful individuals have unattainable, complex means of achieving their goals. Huffington has clearly demonstrated otherwise. Her mindful tips are simple and practical, so why not inject some mindfulness into your life today?
